Sock swab (also called bootswab or boot sock) is one of the environmental sampling equipment for the primary food-animal production stage recommended in the regulations on the control of food-borne pathogenic agents.

EnviroSampTM Sock Swab is a wearable adaptation of the fabric swab in a sock shape and thus allows sampling while walking. EnviroSampTM Sock Swab is a simple, cost-effective and user-friendly sampling equipment developed for environmental contamination control of primary production sites (eg poultry houses) for pathogenic microorganisms, especially Salmonella serotypes.

EnviroSampTM Sock Swab is pre-wetied with a validated volume of a diluent (Maximum recovery diluent or buffered peptone water) containing 10% neutralizer in accordance with ISO 13307 standard and terminally sterilized by irradiation. The neutralizing content of the diluent is sufficient to neutralize the effects of residues of commonly used disinfectants.

EnviroSampTM Sock Swab is supplied in a plastic bag (16 x 25 cm) with wire closure tabs and it fits up to size 46 (UK 11) boots thanks to its stretchable form and elastic band.

EnviroSampTM Sock Swab is also available in sampling kit form with gloves and boot-shaped plastics covering called “overboots”.
